![]() ![]() Remember, you can always select and delete any shape and start again or simply use the shortcut, Control + Z on Windows, that's Command + Z on a Mac to undo your last action. Have fun creating and don't worry about making mistakes. Now, post the video and draw simple shapes to have fun experimenting with a full range of Pathfinder effects, using the panel buttons like add, intersect, exclude, subtract, and many more. In this case, I will select the divide effect which separates a piece of artwork into its component as filled areas. Open the Pathfinder from the top Window menu and in the Pathfinder panel, click the Pathfinder button that best suits your needs. To start, select the object to which you want to apply the effect. Differently from the Shape Builder tool, Pathfinder lets you combine multiple objects using interaction modes. Before we move forward, let me show you another tool, similar to the Shape Builder tool called Pathfinder. All we're left to do now is to rotate it. As you can see in just a few clicks we transform two simple rectangles in a heart. To delete areas you do not wish to use in your design, you can enter the array's mode of the Shape Builder tool by pressing the Alt key on Windows or the Option on Mac, and simply click and drag over the region or path you wish to delete. You will see that the selected regions will merge to form a new shape. With the Shape Builder tool selected, hover on the area you wish to merge and click and drag the pointer along the region, then release the mouse when done. Then select the Shape Builder tool from the tool bird or press the shortcut Shift + M. First, use the selection tool to select all the path you need to merge. And now it's time to activate the exciting Shape Builder tool. Then create a copy of the rectangle and paste it in front using the shortcut we already explored which are Control + C and Control + F on windows or Command + C and Command + F on a Mac. Then use the corner widgets to create rounded corners. Use the techniques you learned in the previous movie to select the rectangle tool and draw a rectangle. To start, we will use two rectangles to create a heart with the help of the powerful Shape Builder tool. I look forward to show you how to combine and merge all the shape created so far. ![]() In this mode, you can move, resize, rotate and transform the original objects.- Welcome to this exciting video. It can be helpful to double-click on the compound group in order to enter the Isolate mode. Apart from editing anchor points, this tool lets you move individual objects inside the compound group. To edit a compound group, use the Selection tool as you do to edit separate paths. To split a compound group back into the objects that compose it, use the Modify > Combine > Release command. You can change the properties of a compound group as you do with basic objects: apply stroke, fill or effects. The program will instantly update the compound group. You can access and edit those sub-objects individually. In the Layers panel, a compound group is presented as an object named CompoundGroup whose sub-items are the original objects. Compound GroupsĪ compound group can be created by combining objects. Finally, we pull the sector off the center of the circle. Once the result is ungrouped, we can delete the part of the triangle that is outside of the circle. Then we select both of them and apply Divide. We need to place the corner of the triangle in the center of the circle. In order to cut a sector of a circle, we can use a triangle that has an appropriate angle at one of its corners. ![]() To illustrate a possible usage scenario for the Divide operation, let's create a pie chart showing 1/8 of something (or a pizza, if you like, with one slice separated). ![]()
